This course is designed to be completely hands on. Students will perform all tasks in configuring a Sendmail mail server and implementing the solution into the Linux/Windows desktop. Upon completion of this two day class students will be able to supply a Linux mail solution for a business or home mail server.

What You Get:
Students will receive a course manual on Mail Servers including all the topics of the class as well as a Training CD for addtional support after the class and three Linux distributions for setting up a mail server (Mandrake, Centos and Fedora).

This basic class in Linux mail servers requires that students have some experience in Linux as well as be able to use a text editor. This is a basic to intermediate level course.

Class Schedule
9 AM - 5 PM Saturday
We will take a 1/2 hr. break for lunch.

7 PM - 9 PM Saturday - open lab
Open lab will provide students to exploring installation of a mail server on Fedora, Mandrake and Centos.

9 AM - 4 PM Sunday
We will take a 1/2 hr. break for lunch.

Understanding how mail is transferred from one desktop to another enables the learner to configure the server/desktop solution.

An important part of a mail solution is the configuration of the desktop optiosn so that the user does not get virus activity via email and spam is reduced to a minimum.

Centos is chosen because it is a clone of the Red Hat Enterprise so it offers an Enterprise solution.
Mail Server Using SuSE
A. YAST
YAST is a graphical tool that enable the administator to administer a server and the desktop.

tar is a common utility that can place all of your data backup in one location. which then can be compressed and moved.
B. rsync

The cron utility allows the administrator to setup a backup solultion that runs automatically.
Webmin Graphical Tools (1 hr.)
This section will explore the use of Webmin as a grpahical tool to configure a mail server. Webmin is a popular tool that can be secure and effective.
